I travelled to Aegina on dialysis and wanted to share how it went, so you know what to expect before you go.
The dialysis care
The dialysis was at the Saronic Nephrological Center. Michael and the whole team were incredibly warm, caring, and welcoming. They made us feel like family. This is what exceptional dialysis care looks like.
The food
They served a small sandwich during the session, and they even treated us to ice cream.
What it costs
Aegina is in Greece, so if you are an EU patient you can use your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Bring a valid card and it should cover your dialysis. If you are from abroad, the cost is around 180€ per dialysis session. It is still better to confirm the cost before you come because pricescan change.

Would I recommend Aegina?
Yes, very much. It is a calm, authentic Greek island close to Athens, and the team treated us like family. After dialysis the sea and the island are waiting for you.
We organise group trips for dialysis patients, so you do not have to plan it all alone.
