I travelled to the Gdansk area on dialysis and wanted to share how it went, so you know what to expect before you go. The dialysis center is in Gdynia, right next to Gdansk.
The dialysis care
The dialysis was at Diaverum in Gdynia. As with other Diaverum centers I have visited, it was clean, professional, and reliable, with the same consistent quality you find at Diaverum anywhere in the world.
The food
One thing to know: this center does not provide food during dialysis, so bring your own snack for the session.
What it costs
Poland is in the EU, so if you are an EU patient you can use your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Otherwise, the price for HDF is around 150€. Confirm the details when you book.
How to find the dialysis center
The dialysis center is Diaverum Gdynia.
Address: Powstania Styczniowego 1, 81-519 Gdynia, Poland.

What you need to bring:
Confirmation of insurance (your European Health Insurance Card).
Virus results: aHCV, aHBS, HBsAg, aHIV, antiHBc, and HCV PCR, no older than 6 months.
Your most recent blood count result.
A nasal swab for Staphylococcus epidermidis.
Your dialysis parameters.
Your blood type.
An information card.
They do not have their own form, or I didn't get it.
Would I recommend Gdansk?
Yes. The Gdansk and Gdynia area on the Baltic coast is worth exploring, and the Diaverum care was clean and professional. Just remember to bring your own snack, since they do not serve food.
We organise group trips for dialysis patients, so you do not have to plan it all alone.
